Pre-Purchase / Home Buyer

LCHA's HUD-Certified Housing Counselors provide FREE Pre-Purchase and Home Buyer Education to ALL regardless of income, residency or demographic. Participants can qualify for nearly all Federal, State and Private down payment assistance through this HUD-Approved counseling.

Register for Workshops or Request One-on-One Counseling

• Workshop Participants will be provided information on the process of purchasing a home, down payment qualifications, types of mortgage programs available, the impact of credit, affordability, escrow, taxes, interest rates, budgeting for purchase, time frame, professionals needed, closing documents and much more.  These 4-hour workshops are hosted by the Lake County Housing Authority and frequently co-hosted by industry professionals.  LCHA partners with local lenders, banks, real estate agents, inspectors and other experts in order to provide buyers the broadest range of expertise. 

• One-on-One Counseling focuses on the specific needs of the individual buyer:  credit qualification, saving for down payment or receiving down payment assistance, establishing debt-to-income ratio, determining your future monthly payment, planning for escrow, building a reliable team, and more depending on your needs.  Counseling sessions typically last 2 hours, depending on the needs of the households.
