Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher
&
Public Housing Family Waiting Lists

Closed
Effective January 1, 2010

The Lake County Housing Authority (LCHA) closed their Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program and Public Housing Family waiting lists effective JANUARY 1, 2010. LCHA will NOT accept any NEW applications for these two waiting lists on or after this date. There are currently over 8000 and 5000 families on these waiting lists respectively and the wait to receive assistance is much longer than the recommended wait time. There is no scheduled date to re-open these waiting lists at this time. When LCHA is prepared to re-open these waiting lists, an announcement will be posted on our website and in the local newspaper.

If your name is already on a waiting list you must respond to the
2010 Annual Update in a timely manner in order to remain active on the list(s). LCHA will maintain your name and the date and time you applied. You are still required to update your personal information by submitting changes in writing.

LCHA will continue to accept applications for the Public Housing Senior Units which is limited to households where all family members are 55 years old and older.

While LCHA will not be taking new applications during the time the waiting list is closed, staff will continue to process those currently on the list and make unit offers as vacancies occur.
